I just thought of this mesmer skill just now, so bear with me.

Illusionary magic
For 30 seconds target other ally deals 25% less damage in combat. But when target ally uses a melee skill, five illusionary clones strike target foe dealing 5-29 shadow damage.

I don't know if this is too overpowering but it's target other ally so mesmer's can't use it on themselves while using Illusionary Weapon Or letting warriors with unknowlingly high Illusion magic can't put it onthemselves either.

dont you think 30 seconds is a bit to much? i would make it like 4-10 seconds. and what about the energy cost,recharge,cast time?
i do like the idea though, but its just a bit to strong :P

um yeah, each skill your warrior uses will deal 120(about) damage to the target along with 3/4ths the normal damage? talk about a 2 man spike. I sure hope this skill costs 50 energy 12 cast and 300 recharge and cannot be affected by fast casting.

sorry to sound rude but it seems like you didnt really think over the skill. the only thing you could really do to help the skill is take it down quite a few notches. maybe 2..3 clones, 10 second duration, 25% damage decrease 4..15 damage 15 energy 3 cast 30 recharge

shadow damage? We mesmers follow the art of chaos, not shadow... Though we are capable of arts that relate to that of the shadow, our goal is to create chaos... and not direct chaos either.

I posted up an idea similar to this, but it was more of a defensive skill.

Spell. Create two clones at both sides to yourself. These clones have 25...100 life, and copy your every action. These clones do no damage, nor can they perform any skills. Whenever they take damage however, you are healed for 20...70% of that amount.

So in this example, this is an anti AoE spell.

I don't think offense is the way to go..

Illusionary magic

{Elite} Illusionary Clones: 15, 3, 45
Enchantment Spell. For 5...10 seconds when ever target ally is struck by any source of damage a clone appears. (Limit at 1..4 clones) Each clone has 100....450 health and 35....70 armor. Each clone lasts for 20...45 seconds. Target foes cannot attack target ally unless all clones are eliminated.

How it would work.. Within the first 10 seconds is when the 5 clones would spawn. Then the enemies would have to fight through the clones, this skill would be a good monk protection. Heres another try...

{Elite} Illusionary Clones: 15, 3, 30
Enchantment Spell. For 3...10 seconds when ever target ally strikes in melee, he deals no damage. But 2....4 clones emerge and each strikes for 5....25 damage. If any of the clone's attacks are blocked, evaded, or miss the original caster takes 30....15 damage.

Dude, The first post in this thread, the skill would be useless... I'll explain.

Nevin, I was meaning that the clones woul attack then go away, they don't last forever.

Retribution, what I mean by target foe is what your ally is attacking.

Terra, your suggestion is way off meaning here.

And for the rest, yes it's a little bit too powerful, didn't tink about that till i was getting into bed.

Okay i sort of edited it now:
Illusionary Clones
Elite Spell. For 1-10 seconds target other ally deals 50% less damage in combat and all skills cost double the amount than usual. But when target ally uses a melee skill, 2-5 illusionary clones strike target foe dealing 5-29 shadow damage. Illusion Magic.

This better?

CHAOS DAMAGE!!!

blast it, this is the first mesmer skill that reduces the abilites of its own allies. I dont like this idea now . 145 damage per hit, with a warrior that probrably already has adrenaline bossting skills, or a ranger with high expertise - lets not forget the sinner who effectively gets 2 energy per hit...

The whole point of skills that have illusion in their name is that overall it's designed not to have any sort of effect. IoP, IoW, IW. When you look at your Illusionary clones, it can easily be seen as a power buff, rather than an illusion.

IoW, Elemental and Physical resistances dont count either.

I mean take Conjure phantasm... simple illusionary skill. The point is to hex someone into believing that they are being attacked by some sort of phantom, even though it looks like they aren't, their paranoia from the hex causes them to lose health over time. An illusion, that is all.

Really good idea, just needs some adjusting... I still like my idea tho :P.

i can see another cookie cutter build just like the 3 that us Americans love so much in HA, itd be a spike most likely. America cant afford more builds that dont win favor.
